The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, in collaboration with local authorities and educators, has launched its Water Safety & Drowning Prevention Training program for children.

This initiative, which commenced on November 13, 2023, and runs until November 15, aims to teach students vital life-saving skills.

Ms. Pailin Kongpan, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin, inaugurated the program on behalf of the Mayor, signaling the local government’s support for this essential community project. The event was also attended by key figures from the Rotary Club Royal Hua Hin, and Mr. Alan Cooper, Chairman of the Children’s Swimming Teaching Project. Ms. Kanjanarat Taweeseak, Director of Khaophitthak Municipal School, and Senior Professional Nurse Thatsaniy Choksuchart, Head of Health Promotion at the Department of Public Health and Environment, were also in attendance, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the program.

The training sessions, held at the Greenway Hua Hin Resort swimming pool in Hin Lek Fai Subdistrict, saw 60 fifth-grade students from Khaophitthak Municipal School participating. The program’s instructors, trained by Australian experts in Phuket and certified by the Thai Life Saving Society, shared their knowledge and skills with the students. This training includes floating techniques and other survival strategies, designed to equip children with the ability to prevent and respond to drowning incidents.

In an additional boost to the program’s effectiveness, a team of experts from Sawang Hua Hin Thammasathan Rescue is providing specialized knowledge, further ensuring that the participants are well-prepared for water-related emergencies.

This training program is a part of the Rotary Club’s ongoing commitment to community safety and youth education.
