Good news for people in Thailand wishing to travel to the UK.
The British government has announced that it is expanding its list of approved vaccines for inbound travel to the UK.
From 22 November, the British government will recognise the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines, as well as India’s Covaxin vaccine.
This means that people in Thailand who have been vaccinated with either Sinovac and Sinopharm will be able to visit the UK more easily.
People who have been fully vaccinated with Sinovac or Sinopharm in Thailand, as well as with one of the UK’s approved vaccines, who have received a vaccine certificate will not be required a pre-departure COVID-19 test, day eight test or to self-isolate upon arrival.
Instead, they will now just need to take a lateral flow test before the end of their second day after arrival in the UK.
The British government also announced that it is simplifying travel rules for under 18s.
Also from 22 November, children aged 17 and under will not have to be quarantined when they arrive in England if they are resident in the UK, or in a “country or territory with an approved proof of vaccination”.
It also applies to the “children of someone who is fully vaccinated under the UK overseas vaccination programme”.
The government website confirmed it also applies “whether they are vaccinated or not”.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said:
“As we continue to recover from the pandemic and expand our recognition of international vaccines, today’s announcements mark the next step in our restart of international travel.
“By also simplifying the rules for international travel for all under-18s coming to England, we’re bringing further good news for families looking to unite with loved ones, and another great boost for the travel sector.
Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said:
“Today’s announcement is another step forward for the travel industry, businesses and for family and friends wanting to reunite or go abroad.
“The red list and quarantine system remain vital in protecting our borders and as we’ve said we will not hesitate to take action by adding countries to the red list if necessary.”
