Hua Hin to host long boat racing event on Khao Tao Reservoir, Nov 17-19

A major long boat racing event will take place on Khao Tao Reservoir between Nov 17-19.

This year marks the 16th edition of the prestigious “Long Boat Racing for River Masters” competition, which is set to draw participants from all over Thailand.

The event promises to showcase an impressive array of long boats, ranging from traditional Lao vessels, ancient long boats, and the exquisite Naga Head long boats from Nan province, to the sturdy Iron long boats from Buriram and the distinct Kor Boats from Southern Thailand.

This competition, organized by Hua Hin Municipality, in collaboration with the Thai PBS television station and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), will be broadcast live, ensuring that long boat racing enthusiasts across the nation can partake in the excitement.

On Tuesday (Oct 31) Hua Hin’s Mayor, Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, alongside his executive team and an assembly of municipal and governmental officials, conducted an inspection of the reservoir ahead of the event.

The aim was to ensure the venue is ready to host the competition and related activities which will include live music performances, activity booths, and community shops sponsored by the Hua Hin Municipality.

This year’s competition will feature races across four boat categories, with participants vying for a variety trophies.

Hua Hin Municipality invites residents and visitors alike, encouraging everyone to be part of this unique cultural experience and witness the thrilling races.
