Health officials have explained the reason for the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Hua Hin.
The spike in cases, which at its peak saw 396 new cases on Friday, were due to infections emanating from two clusters in Hua Hin.
According to provincial medical chief Dr. Suriya Kuharat the two clusters were found at a Karon village in Pala U and at the Ritthiluechai Camp, a specialist police training centre in Hua Hin district.
Following an initial investigation, a direct link was discovered between the two clusters, which resulted in the spike in confirmed infections.

Dr Suriya said that the infections at the Ritthiluechai Camp occurred after a Karon villager was employed to help cook food for police at the training camp. The villager then passed on the virus to police who were attending a specialist training course at the camp.
Out of 450 officers in attendance, 340 have tested positive, a further 140 people linked to those infected are awaiting test results.
Dr Suriya said that the majority of cases are asymptomatic or only showing minor symptoms as most of those infected were already in a good physical condition.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the province, Dr Suriya said that the cluster discovered at a fruit factory in Kuiburi has now resulted in 253 confirmed infections, while a cluster found at Prachuap Prison has resulted in 227 cases.
Data released by the provincial health authorities on Monday and Tuesday suggested that the COVID-19 situation throughout Prachuap Khiri Khan had begun to stabilise.
On Tuesday, the province reported 44 new cases and 67 recoveries.
