Aug 21: Prachuap Khiri Khan reports 167 new cases, 3 deaths

Health officials on Saturday (Aug 21) reported 167 new COVID-19 cases, 46 of which were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 19 cases were found in Pranburi, 56 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 10 cases in Kuiburi, 1 case in Thap Sakae, 13 cases in Bang Saphan, 14 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 8 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Health officials said that many cases were linked to the following clusters:

  • Hua Hin: Karon village in Pala U (+29 cases)
  • Sam Roi Yot: Tagerng fruit factory (+53 cases)
  • Kuiburi: Fruit factory (+10 cases)

Three more deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the province to 41.

The deceased were all male, aged 54, 94 and 63, located in Pranburi, Kuiburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan, respectively. Health officials said all three had underlying health conditions.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the province since April 1 to 6,992 cases.

Meanwhile, 83 people were also discharged from hospital or quarantine having made a full recovery.

Of the 6,992 cumulative total cases in the province, 1,432 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 5,519 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.

Health officials say 85 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 228 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.
