A series of events parades will be held next month to honour three local athletes who clinched medals at the recent 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

In a meeting on October 24 at the Singkorn conference room in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s main hall, Deputy Governor Mr. Kittiphong Sukhaphakul unveiled plans for the celebratory event. Collaborating with both government and private agencies, the province aims to pay tribute to its sporting heroes who brought glory not just to Prachuap Khiri Khan but to Thailand as a whole.

The three decorated athletes are Mr. Ballangk Thaptimdaeng, who secured a gold medal in Taekwondo; Miss Benyapa Jantawan, who earned a silver in Kiteboarding; and Mr. Joseph Jonathan Weston, who bagged a bronze, also in Kiteboarding.

The festivities will kick off on Wednesday, November 8, with a series of events throughout the day. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the medalists will visit the central city shrine in Mueang Prachuap district to pay their respects. A procession will then move along Salachip Road, culminating in an interactive session at Prachuap Wittayalai School, where the athletes will share their experiences and inspire students to pursue sports.

The afternoon will see a parade commencing at 1:30 p.m. from True Arena, Hua Hin, which will navigate through Petchkasem Road, pausing for engagements at BluPort Shopping Center and Market Village Hua Hin. The champions can expect gifts and accolades from various sponsors during these stopovers.

By 4:30 p.m., another parade will set off from the Pran Buri District Office, making its way to the Pak Nam Pran sub-district. The day’s grand finale is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Pran Buri, with the exact venue yet to be confirmed. During this ceremony, the athletes will receive certificates of honor and cash prizes as tokens of appreciation for their monumental achievements at the Asian Games.
