Banyan Golf Club to be rebranded within early 2024

Banyan Hua Hin, the healthy active lifestyle community nestled along Thailand’s gulf coast, announces a rebranding initiative to redefine its distinctive project components.

The rebranding unveils the following transformations:

  • As of January 1, 2024, Banyan Residences Villas will continue under the name BelVida Estates Hua Hin.
  • Banyan Village, the long-term rental village, will continue under the name Terra Villa Village Hua Hin
  • Banyan Privilege Club will continue under the name BelVida Privilege Club.

Furthermore, within the first quarter of 2024, near the end of the peak season, Banyan Golf Club will be rebranded. The name will be revealed in early 2024.

The new name ‘BelVida’ is an adaptation from the Italian word ‘belvita’, which means ‘the good life’. ‘Estates’ stands for the privacy and luxury that homeowners enjoy. The BelVida Estates logo takes the memorable font and design from the Banyan Residences Villas logo.

Similarly, ‘Terra’ in Terra Villa pays homage to the earthy hues of the village’s distinctive roofs, a name echoed in the refreshed logo, embracing the unique architectural elements.

Assuring continuity and commitment, all current villa owners, club members, tenants, and privilege club members will retain their rights and benefits without alteration. The dedication to providing exceptional services remains steadfast, upheld by the same passionate team.

Record-breaking performance

Over the past 15 years, Banyan Thailand has developed a thriving golf & social community, which has accelerated with the introduction of the Healthy Active Lifestyle Concept.

Banyan flourished in the post-COVID era, and its success continues to break records. Today, Banyan Residences is perceived as the best and most high-end residential development in Hua Hin due to the mix of quality, luxury, and location, with recent awards underpinning its reputation. The company has also achieved unprecedented villa sales in the 2022 – 2023 period.

Banyan Resort Village has become the favourite resort-style home for Thai and foreign residents. The average occupancy rate at Banyan Resort Village exceeds 80%, and this peak season is close to 100%.

Terra Villa Village

Banyan Privilege Club has grown from its start in 2020 to more than 2,500 members in 2023, offering benefits at 60+ partners across Hua Hin and monthly exciting events.

Banyan Golf Club is internationally regarded as one of the best golf clubs in Asia Pacific and has been granted over 50 awards in the last decade, such as “The Best Golf Club Experience in Asia Pacific” and is listed in the “Top 1,000 in the World by Rolex”. This year, Banyan Golf Club exceeded 40,000 rounds for the first time in its history,

Building strong, differentiated brands

Tjeert Kwant, Group CEO and Director, said: “The new brands that we have carefully selected in consultation with brand experts will perfectly reflect the identity of each project component. These brands will support us in differentiating the project in the best possible way and position us for future growth.”

“We are confident that the added value of being a homeowner and a golf club member will further grow with the success of the project. Our team remains fully committed to delivering the best living, golfing, and dining experience to our homeowners, tenants, club members and visitors,” he added.

The rebranding marks a new chapter in the legacy of Banyan Hua Hin, setting the stage for elevated experiences and continued excellence.

The company will launch the new websites www.belvidahuahin.com for BelVida Estates and www.terravillahuahin.com for Terra Villa Village before the end of the year.

Golf bookings can still be booked via www.banyanthailand.com.

Hua Hin is gearing up for a first of its kind fitness event as the world-renowned HYROX competition makes its debut in the city on December 16th.

The event, which has seen a meteoric rise since its inception in Germany, now spans over 16 countries and 30 cities worldwide and has been dubbed the world’s fastest-growing fitness sport.

HYROX, a fusion of cardio and strength challenges, involves participants running 1km followed by a workout station, a sequence repeated eight times. This unique format has attracted over 90,000 athletes globally in 2023 alone, from various backgrounds, emphasizing its appeal to a broad range of fitness enthusiasts.

The Hua Hin HYROX event is not only testament to the global appeal of the sport but also the thriving local fitness community and is organized in part by local athlete and personal trainer Romain Chevalier.

Romain, who placed an impressive 11th in the Men’s Elite category at a recent HYROX competition in Singapore, represents the high caliber of the organizing team.

The HYROX event in Hua Hin marks the beginning of a larger plan to introduce “Hyrox Thailand” next year.

In addition, CrossFit HuaHin has been granted the official HYROX license, becoming only the second gym in Thailand to achieve this distinction.

Following the event, Coach Romain Chevalier will lead a 6-week HYROX Training Camp, offering thrice-weekly sessions that include strength training, cardio workouts, and specialized HYROX training, aiming to enhance participants’ overall athletic prowess.

HYROX is designed to be inclusive, catering to both professional athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts. The event boasts a completion rate of over 98%, with no time limit for finishing and no pre-qualification required for participation. This approach encourages participants to compete at their own pace, supported by friends, family, and fellow athletes.

Image: HYROX Hong Kong.

One of the unique aspects of HYROX is its structure, which alleviates the common fear of ‘coming last’ in a race. Start waves, organized every 10 minutes throughout the day, cover all age groups and divisions. This means that participants with varying completion times, from three hours to under one hour, can cross the finish line simultaneously.

Want to take part? You can register here.

The schedule for the Dec 16 event are as follows:

The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin (RCRHH) marked another milestone in its charitable endeavors with the successful completion of the 13th Annual Amateur Golf Classic.

Hosted on November 24, 2023, at the Banyan Golf Course, the event not only celebrated sportsmanship and camaraderie but also raised a significant amount of money for worthy causes.

Since its founding in April 2010, RCRHH has consistently utilized this golf tournament as its principal fundraising channel to support local communities across Hua Hin and other regions of Thailand.

This year’s event witnessed an impressive turnout, with twenty-seven teams and a total of one hundred and eight golfers of various nationalities. Notably, three teams traveled from Australia specifically for the tournament, underscoring its growing international appeal.

The day’s conditions were favorable, though winds added an extra layer of challenge to the game. Players contended with these nuances on a course that was maintained to an excellent condition by the Banyan team, ensuring an enjoyable and competitive environment for all participants.

Post-tournament activities included a gathering at Mulligans, where players engaged in lively discussions about the day’s play, shared stories, and enjoyed the scenic sunset from the bar’s terrace. The event saw ‘Dansea’ emerge as the victorious team, earning them well-deserved accolades.

However, the heart of the Amateur Golf Classic lies in its philanthropic purpose. This year, the tournament, including a live main auction, a silent auction, and a raffle at the dinner, which was attended by one hundred and fifty people, successfully raised over 300,000 THB.

The RCRHH is confident that the final figure from the golf event will again be over 1 million THB.

Last year RCRHH raised over 1.14 million THB, and between the 1st of July 2022.

These funds play a crucial role in supporting RCRHH’s community initiatives. Between July 1, 2022, and June 31, 2023, the club allocated 1.8 million Baht towards various community projects.

The proceeds from this year’s event will continue to fuel efforts in disease prevention and treatment, basic education, and water safety programs for local school children, reinforcing RCRHH’s commitment to societal betterment.

The success of the Amateur Golf Classic is a testament to the collective efforts of main and supporting sponsors, local businesses, the Banyan golf club, and the dedicated volunteers from RCRHH. This support not only ensures the event’s success but also fortifies the club’s ability to make a significant impact in the community.

Looking ahead, RCRHH is already gearing up for the 14th Amateur Golf Classic, set to take place in November 2024.

With its growing popularity and proven track record of community service, the event promises to further the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin’s mission of service above self.

Motorcycle enthusiasts across Thailand are gearing up for the ninth edition of Track Time Thailand, a premier motorcycle track day event promoting road safety.

Scheduled to take place on the 6th and 7th of January 2024 at the Kaeng Krachan Circuit, Track Time Thailand offers a controlled environment where riders can refine their skills.

The circuit, a counter-clockwise track predominantly featuring left turns, provides a safe haven free of the common road hazards like potholes and unexpected traffic signals, allowing motorcyclists to focus solely on improving their handling and technique, while also having fun.

The event’s organizer said “Our roads can be dangerous at times, and our mission with Track Time is to provide a space where riders can push the limits of their motorcycles in a safe, controlled environment. It’s about education as much as it is about enjoyment; we want riders to leave here with a better understanding of what they and their bikes are capable of and of course, we want everyone to have fun.”

Motorcyclists of all skill levels, from novices to seasoned racers, are welcomed to participate.

The event starts early, with gates opening before 6:30 am for technical inspections and class assignments. Participants self-select into color-coded classes—green for novices, yellow for intermediate riders, and red for track specialists—with the flexibility to change classes as the day progresses.

A mandatory safety briefing at 8:30 am will cover essential Track Time rules and marshal instructions, emphasizing the event’s non-competitive nature. With “gentleman’s spirit” at its core, the event prohibits racing, instead aiming to build a community focused on collective improvement and respect.

Each group receives expert guidance from an instructor in a blue vest, ensuring a safe and structured experience. Participants can expect to ride in at least five sessions, with the potential to cover up to 120 kilometers in a single day.

So far more than 153,000 km of safe riding has been done with the previous Track Time events.

Track Time Thailand’s commitment to safety is underscored by the presence of a full medical team, including a trauma doctor and nurse, on standby.

Additionally, the event will introduce enhanced features like an optimized RFID lap timing system and a Gymkhana Parkour for skill testing.

Meanwhile, UpBeat trailers from the Pattaya area will offer backwards trailer parking lessons or an introduction to trailer pulling.

The event is not only about riding.

Families can enjoy a day out with a variety of side activities and catering options, including a Big Mu Haan BBQ planned for Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a special early morning session invites runners and cyclists to enjoy the track before the motorbikes take over.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, with benefits such as VIP lounge access. Major sponsors include Bridgestone, offering tire discounts, Alpine Stars for apparel, AA Insurance providing insurance deals and UpBeat trailers for all your transport solutions.

“We’re seeking sponsors who are as passionate about road safety and motorcycling as we are. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your brand to a dedicated community and support a cause that saves lives,” the organizer said.

The day will conclude with live radio coverage by Surf Radio, as the event welcomes spectators free of charge to witness the exhilaration and dedication to safer riding.

An athlete based in Hua Hin recently won a silver medal at the Asian Games competition in Hangzhou, China.

Having begun her kiteboarding journey 15 years ago at SurfSpot in Hua Hin, Benyapa Jantawan, nicknamed “Fawn,” triumphed at the Games despite a challenging time both on and off the water.

Her victory is all the more impressive, considering she had been grappling with injuries from a non-stop competition schedule throughout the year.

“I was so happy I won the silver medal at the Asian Games,” Fawn said, rightfully proud of her achievement. Despite the physical challenges, she credits her mental fortitude for her triumph: “Mind over matter, to push myself.”

This tenacity not only earned her a silver medal but also a coveted ticket to the 2024 Olympics scheduled for next July in Paris.

Fawn competes in Formula Kite, an exhilarating race around a course on water where the conditions can be treacherous, posing a significant risk of injury.

Recalling her initial days, she said, “I just gave kiteboarding a try and went on a three day course at SurfSpot Hua Hin. I found it really good fun and started practicing more during my days off from work.”

Fawn later participated in the Intercontinental PKRA event on Hua Hin beach in 2008, entering merely to experience the competition.

Notably, kiteboarding has been more than just a sport for her. “Before, when I worked, I used to get bad migraines that required medication. But after kiteboarding, I no longer get migraines. I love the sport; it gives me a sense of freedom and love for the outdoors,” Fawn expressed.

Her expertise doesn’t stop there. Fawn was among the pioneers in Thailand to use a hydrofoil board. She even made history as the first woman to go from Pattaya to Hua Hin across the Gulf of Thailand on a kiteboard.

Now competing around the world, Fawn’s talent has taken her to destinations like Oman, Qatar, the USA, and various European countries. To maintain her peak performance, she adheres to a rigorous training regimen, both on water and in the gym, involving weightlifting, Crossfit, and cardio.

Her dedication to the sport has even led her to gain weight, from 55kg to an intended 70kg, focusing on a protein-rich diet in order to build muscle and strength.

Kiteboarding’s popularity in Hua Hin can’t be understated.

The beach is a sought-after destination for the sport, offering perfect conditions, especially during the season which begins around November or early December. By April or May, the conditions are particularly ideal in the afternoons.

Athletes from around Asia including countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Korea and Japan use Hua Hin as a training base during the kiteboarding season.

“Hua Hin has everything you could want if you like kiteboarding,” Fawn said. “The conditions are ideal, and the town has excellent facilities. Plus, the cost of living is relatively low compared to other destinations.”

As she looks forward to the Olympics, Fawn’s vision extends beyond her personal aspirations.

She hopes to inspire more women to take up kiteboarding and is ready to support them in their journey.

Hua Hin and the Prachuap Khiri Khan celebrated three local athletes who recently won medals at the Asian Games a parade and series of honors on Wednesday (Nov 8).

The athletes, who recently clinched medals at the prestigious 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, received a warm welcome complete with cultural and civic festivities.

Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Noisuwan, on behalf of the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, along with the province’s deputy governors, officially congratulated the medalists at a morning reception at the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Hall. The commendation was for three athletes: taekwondo gold medalist Mr. Ballangk Thaptimdaeng, silver medalist in kiteboarding Miss Benyapa ‘Fawn’ Jantawan, and bronze medalist in the same sport Mr. Joseph Jonathan Weston.

Lt. Col. Adisak expressed his pride and gratitude towards the athletes for elevating the status of Thailand and Prachuap Khiri Khan on the international stage, a statement from the Provincial Hall said.

The athletes began the day by paying homage at the Prachuap Khiri Khan City Pillar Shrine, a traditional gesture seeking continued good fortune. They then led a vibrant parade down Salachip Road towards Prachuap Wittayalai School, where students and staff celebrated their achievements with flowers and cheers of encouragement.

In the afternoon, the celebrations extended to Hua Hin with another parade through the town, starting with a presentation at Arena Hua Hin. The procession made stops at the BluPort Hua Hin Resort Mall and Market Village Hua Hin shopping center, where the public joined in the festivities. Both venues hosted presentations that allowed the athletes to engage with the community. Notably, BluPort is currently housing a display in tribute to the athletes for the public to admire.

Look out for an exclusive interview with Benyapa ‘Fawn’ Jantawan in the latest edition of Hua Hin Today.

The eighth edition of the Orchid Palm Homes Cup took place at Midfield Soccer last Sunday. There were eight team competing in this Under 11 tournament and PP United emerged victorious for the second time.

The previous seven tournaments had all taken place on grass pitches but a last minute change of venue saw this moved to the astro turf surface on Soi 6. The teams were divided into two groups with Black Mountain winning Group A and PP United winning Group B.

In the first semi final Black Mountain placed Nalom. A couple of defensive errors gifted the team from Thap Sakae two goals and they duly booked their spot in the final with a 2-0 win.

The other semi final also finished 2-0 with PP United emerging as comfortable winners over Seahorse. It meant the last two games of the day would both be rematches.

In the 3/4th place play off Seahorse and Black Mountain met for the second time and the scoreline was exactly the same with the game ending 1-1. The former team triumphed on penalties netting both kicks to win 2-0 while their opponents failed to convert a single one.

PP United had beaten Nalom 5-0 in the group stages and were firm favourites in the final. Things got off to a terrible start for their opponents who conceded from a speculative long shot inside the first five seconds.

The match proved to be more competitive than the first one but it was PP United who ran out as 2-0 winners. Orchid Palm Homes owner Stephen Ayling certainly enjoyed the day, “I was pleased to see so many teams and I think there were over 100 children playing during the course of the day. With some teams travelling nearly three hours to be here they are clearly really keen to play and we are proud to support this tournament.”

Black Mountain head coach Gary Stevens praised the spirit of the players,

“I thought there was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. These children need experience of competitive football and we are all grateful to Orchid Palm Homes for helping to provide it.”
