Why traditional Chinese medicine

Acupuncture is one science in Chinese medicine that has been practised for more than 4000 years, according to the theory and treatment principles of traditional Chinese medicine, needles are applied at the acupuncture body points which are located on the meridians, in order to adjust the balance of the body, blood flow and chi, to return the normal flow. Acupuncture is most often used to attempt pain relief, though acupuncturists say that it can also be used for a wide range of other conditions.

Acupuncture is generally used only in combination with other forms of treatment. Acupuncture is generally safe when done by appropriately trained practitioners using clean needle technique and single-use needles. One client suffered with a very painful stiff shoulder presumed to be caused by sitting for 9 hours a day at the office computer. After advice from some colleagues they decided to visit Terra acupuncture in Soi 51 for a 45 minute one-to-one session with the qualified acupuncturist there, as the pain was great and there was nothing to lose.

Although skeptical, it was clear that after the first visit the pain had begun to ease and it had clearly improved the condition, however a slight pain began to return a few days later and so a course of treatment was booked and some Chinese herbal powder was purchased for treating high blood pressure as well. At Terra Clinic, there are two young female doctors who provide treatment, one of them is Dr. Napich Boonyakiat, who we usually call Dr. Kate, she graduated with a Ph.D.

Traditional Chinese Medicine in California in the United States of America, and she is a doctor specialising in pain management, orthopaedic and sport medicine. Dr. Kate has experience of working in the US for 6 years, and now a further 2 years in Thailand. The second is Dr Wilawan Chanlek she graduated from the Faculty of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University which is associated with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, she has experience in working at Samut Sakhon Hospital and San Paolo Hospital Hua Hin.

Both doctors are very friendly and provide a courteous service as well as offering advice on how to take care of yourself after the treatment as well. Acupuncture can be particularly beneficial but not everyone will find acupuncture effective for treating physical pain. It should be stressed that not all types of acupuncture treatment are the same, there are many different types of acupuncture, and all may have differing levels of effectiveness. Acupuncture has helped millions of people with back pain, while many others have felt no benefit at all.

Histological or physiological evidence for traditional Chinese concepts such as chi, meridians, and acupuncture points are a clear set of pathways in the body along which vital energy is said to flow. There are twelve such pathways associated with specific organs. “The slow movements and postures of t’ai chi open up and align the meridians of the body”
