The Ministry of Public Health has accelerated its campaign to vaccinate pregnant women against Covid-19 with a specific campaign to target them.
The target is to vaccinate 100,000 such women during the period September 13th – October 13th. Pregnant women are considered to be a high risk grouping, therefore they should be vaccinated with the most comprehensive protection against the virus in order to avoid serious illness and reduce deaths.
In the past, pregnant women had a mortality rate of 2% among the number of women infected with Covid-19. There are currently around 500,000 pregnant women with over three months gestational age in Thailand, of those only 68,435 have been vaccinated.
With this in mind the Ministry of Public Health has called on women whose pregnancy is beyond the 12 week point to contact the nearest health care facility to receive their Covid-19 vaccination without prior registration as soon as possible.
